Beautiful deeply burnished pastel work, Christopher! I love working with Colour Pencil and achieve many different effects with different substrates, my favorites being Bristol vellum smooth and, most recently, duralar! The oil pastels on rough give a wonderful texture. LF

Thanks for the insightful comments, Laurel! This was actually the first time I had worked with oil pastels in many years. There was some rust to shake off, but the technique started to feel more natural as I progressed. This piece was drawn onto heavily textured Canson paper. I'll have to give Bristol vellum smooth and duralar a try next time. Thanks for the suggestion.
